News from French Association of Nutritionist Dietitians (AFDN)

  • A step forward for the profession in France!

The French government grants annual global funding per patient, to allow access to dietary consultations outside hospitals in the care process after cancer treatment.
The Ministry of Health and Solidarity issued a decree related to the overall care process after cancer treatment, on December 22, 2020, agreeing to finance dietary consultations. If it is considered necessary by his or her General Practitioner or oncologist (pediatrician for children), each patient registered in this care process is entitled to an initial and up to 6 dietary follow-up consultations.

The dietitians commit themselves to stick to the recommendations of good practices established by the French National Authority for Health (HAS), the National Cancer Institute (INCa) and learned medical societies.
They also agree to use tools recommended by the HAS or scientifically validated.

As a member of the High Council of Paramedical Professions (HCPP), our association, the French Association of Nutritionist Dietitians (AFDN), has been strongly committed to engineering this measure and welcomes its implementation for the patients follow up and the recognition of the role of nutritionist dietitians as well in France.
